In a recent feature by *The Economic Times* titled *“How to claim your inheritance – property, EPF, bank FDs, mutual funds”*, Adnan Siddiqui provided his expert perspective on one of the most complex aspects of modern inheritance, the recovery of digital assets such as cryptocurrency.

Adnan highlighted a critical challenge in this evolving space, stating, *“if the crypto is stored in a decentralised wallet (non-custodial), recovery may be impossible without the private key. There is no central authority to approach and no legal mechanism to override blockchain security. We must manage client expectations and be clear that in a significant number of cases, the assets may be permanently lost.”*

His insights reflect the growing need for awareness and legal preparedness when dealing with digital wealth in estate planning and inheritance matters. As more individuals diversify their portfolios to include digital assets, the lack of a clear recovery framework presents both legal and technical challenges for heirs and advisors alike.
