Commenting on the government’s proposed online gaming rules, **Navod Prasannan** noted that *“Enforcement powers of this nature may be viewed as excessive delegation to a quasi-judicial body.”* He added that the measure could *“significantly raise the stakes for companies operating in India’s online gaming ecosystem, both domestic and foreign.”*

The draft framework, which introduces property-linked penalties for violations, marks a sharp departure from conventional digital regulation. A gaming industry executive described the move as *“unprecedented”*, observing that *“you don’t typically see land revenue provisions in technology regulation. It sends a strong message that the government intends to enforce penalties aggressively.”*

The proposed enforcement architecture highlights the government’s focus on accountability and compliance within India’s growing online gaming sector, a space increasingly intersecting with data governance, financial integrity, and consumer protection norms.
