Aditya Bhattacharya Comments on GST Tribunal Backlog Ahead of December Debut

In an article titled “GST Appellate Tribunal to see a glut of cases when it debuts in December” published by The Hindu Businessline, Aditya Bhattachrya shared insights on the anticipated influx of cases before the newly established GST Appellate Tribunal.

Commenting on the situation, Aditya noted: “Over the last several years, appeals that should have gone to the Tribunal, have been piling up before the Commissioners (Appeals) and High Courts, with disputed tax demands running into over a lakh crore rupees.”

His observation highlights the critical role the Tribunal is expected to play in expediting appeals and providing clarity on indirect tax matters. By addressing this backlog, the GST Appellate Tribunal aims to provide relief to taxpayers facing prolonged litigation.
