Siddartha Karnani Shares Guidance on Protecting Senior Citizens from Insurance Mis-selling

Siddartha Karnani was quoted by Business Standard in its article, “How senior citizens should protect themselves from insurance misselling.”
Commenting on the remedies available to policyholders facing insurance mis-selling, Siddartha emphasised the importance of following the insurer’s formal grievance redressal process, particularly where the free-look period has expired.

He advised policyholders to submit their complaint in writing to the insurer’s grievance redressal officer and obtain a complaint reference number for the record. Where the insurer’s response is unsatisfactory, policyholders may approach the Insurance Ombudsman.
Siddartha further noted that an unresolved or inadequately addressed complaint may also be escalated to the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) through Bima Bharosa, providing policyholders with an additional avenue for grievance redressal.
