Gauri Jagtap Quoted in Business Standard on Legal & Financial Risks of Gifting Property 

Gauri Vaidya Jagtap was recently featured in Business Standard in an insightful article titled “Understand the legal and financial implications before gifting property.” In her quote, Gauri highlighted the crucial responsibilities and risks that accompany gift deeds, especially for the donee. 

“Gift deeds can come with liabilities. In case the donee has received the property entirely and there are any debts or liabilities related to it, they are responsible for the fulfilment of debts,” she said. 

Gauri further cautioned that donees must be vigilant about hidden or adverse clauses in the deed that could impact their ownership rights. She emphasized that a poorly drafted, unstamped, or unregistered gift deed can result in serious title defects, affecting the future sale or mortgage of the property.
