SEBI’s Push for Liquidity May Limit Mid-Sized Investors, Warns Vivek Boray

In a recent Business Standard article titled “Sebi may raise minimum block deal size, widen permissible price range”, market expert Vivek Boray offered insights on the potential impact of the proposed framework.

He cautioned that while the move could “aid transparency and price discovery,” it might also “reduce options for mid-sized investors.” He further noted that “the discussions reflect Sebi’s broader push to deepen liquidity in Indian markets.”
His observations highlight the balance regulators must strike—strengthening transparency and liquidity while ensuring that participation from diverse classes of investors is not inadvertently curtailed.
