The Factories (Goa Amendment) Act, 2019, passed by the Legislative Assembly of Goa on 01.08.2019 was assented to by the President on 25.03.2023 and subsequently published in the official Gazette of the State on 18.04.2023 made the following amendments:
As per the amended act, the maximum number of working hours, including overtime, has been increased from 60 hours to 72 hours and the maximum number of hours of overtime in a quarter has been increased from 75 to 125.
The amended act also allows the working of women employees between 7:00 pm and 6:00 am subject to conditions for ensuring the safety of women which may be specified by the State Government.
Further, the amendment introduced a new section 92A dealing with the compounding of offences and added a Schedule IV listing the offences which can be so compounded.
