The Jammu & Kashmir High Court has delivered a judgment in favor of a contractual government employee, stating that the medical expenses she incurred for her husband's treatment outside the State should be reimbursed. The court emphasized the importance of the government's power to relax rules, highlighting that it should be exercised sincerely. The court further stated that such discretion should be applied in cases where strict adherence to the rules would unfairly burden the individual seeking benefits and directed the government officials to reconsider the claim made by the employee.
