The Telangana Labour Employment Training and Factories Department issued a notification dated 04-04-2023 which conferred exemption to all Shops and Establishments from Section 7 (opening and closing hours) of the Telangana Shops and Establishments Act, 1988 (“TSEA”), thereby allowing all Shops and Establishments (as defined under section 2(21) of the TSEA) to operate 24/7, subject to certain conditions such as issue of ID cards, weekly offs, overtime wages, compensatory leaves in case of employees attending duty on a notified holiday or festival, adequate safety of women employees, consent of women employees to work in night shifts, to and fro transport for women, and an annual fee of Rs. 10,000/-, amongst others.
