The Government of Uttar Pradesh has issued a notification under the Minimum Wages Act, 1948, revising the Variable Dearness Allowance (“VDA”) for workers across 74 scheduled employments. This adjustment is based on the movement of the All-India Consumer Price Index (“AICPI”). The revised rates, designed to align wages with the rising cost of living, are applicable for the period beginning April 01, 2026, and will remain in effect until September 30, 2026. These regulations apply to a wide variety of industries, including plastic products, sweets, plywood, dairy, private hospitals, and educational institutions.

The primary wage structure is categorized by skill level, Unskilled, Semi-skilled, and Skilled and specifies both monthly and daily rates. For Unskilled workers, the monthly basic wage is set at INR 5,750, which, combined with the new VDA of INR 5,563.65/-, brings the total monthly minimum wage to INR 11,313.65/-. This results in a daily wage rate of INR 435.14/-. Semi-skilled workers receive a total monthly wage of INR 12,445/- (INR 6,325/- basic + INR 6,120/- VDA), or INR 478.65/- per day. For Skilled workers, the total monthly minimum is INR 13,940.37 (INR 7,085/- basic + INR 6,855.37/- VDA), amounting to a daily rate of INR 536.16/-.
