Aniket Ghosh is a data privacy, competition, and regulatory lawyer with over eleven years of experience advising Indian and multinational organisations on high-stakes matters across the full spectrum, including DPDP implementation, merger control, behavioural proceedings, litigation, dawn raids, compliance reviews, and policy strategy. He leads King Stubb & Kasiva’s Data Protection and Competition Law practice, and is among the small set of practitioners who work at the genuine intersection of data protection and competition law, having advised on landmark matters where privacy, consent and market power converge.

On the data privacy side, Aniket focuses on end-to-end implementation of India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP) and the Rules. His advisory and implementation work spans readiness and gap assessments, data mapping and records of processing, consent and notice architecture, cross-border data transfer strategies, DPIAs, lawful-use and exemption analysis, vendor and intra-group data processing arrangements, breach preparedness and incident response, and privacy governance at management and Board level. He has been leading DPDP implementation projects for a variety of companies, ranging from Japanese electronics majors to global industrial manufacturing companies, as well as technology and services businesses operating in India.

On the competition side, Aniket continues to act on complex merger control, behavioural, investigations and policy strategy mandates, and has extensive experience in digital markets and platform regulation. He appears frequently before the Competition Commission of India (CCI), the National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT), the High Courts in India, and the Supreme Court of India, and additionally has prior experience presenting arguments in indirect tax matters before various tribunals and courts.

Aniket is an active member of the International Network of Privacy Law Professionals (INPLP), a highly selective, invitation-only global network of leading privacy and data protection lawyers, through which he collaborates with senior practitioners across jurisdictions on data protection, cybersecurity, cross-border transfers, AI governance and regulatory enforcement, and contributes India-focused insights on the DPDP Act.

Implementation & Governance

  • Leading end-to-end DPDP implementation for a Japanese electronics major- Casio Group and a global industrial manufacturing company- Kennametal Inc., covering data mapping and records of processing, consent and notice architecture, DPIAs, lawful-use and exemption analysis, incident response, and privacy governance and reporting structures at management and Board level.
  • Conducting DPDP readiness and gap assessments for financial services and technology clients, including data landscape mapping, and prioritised remediation roadmaps for India operations.

  • Advising Indian and multinational technology and services businesses on aligning their global privacy programmes with India’s DPDP Act and Rules, including cross-border data transfer strategies, vendor and intra-group data processing arrangements, data processing agreements, and grievance redressal mechanisms.

  • Designed and delivered sector-specific DPDP management briefing programmes and trainings for organisations including SMAS Auto Leasing India, PTC India Financial Services and Walchandnagar Industries.
  • Undertook a data protection compliance training programme for members of a pan-India industrial association, covering the obligations of data fiduciaries and processors, breach response, and governance under the DPDP Act and Rules.

Merger Control

  • Represented Singapore Airlines in securing CCI approval by negotiating complex behavioural remedies for the merger of Vistara with Air India (nominated by Global Competition Review as Merger Control Matter of the Year, Asia Pacific, 2025).
  • Represented EQT AB and Goldman Sachs in securing CCI approval for their acquisition of Paraxel International.
  • Represented ArcelorMittal in securing CCI approval for its acquisition of Essar Steel Limited under the corporate insolvency process.
  • Represented UV Asset Reconstruction Company Limited in securing CCI approval for its proposed acquisition of Aircel Limited under the corporate insolvency process.
  • Represented Power Finance Corporation in securing CCI approval for its acquisition of Rural Electrification Corporation.
  • Represented GMR Airports Limited in securing CCI approval for its proposed acquisition by the Tata Group.

  • Represented Meta Platforms Inc. and WhatsApp LLC in abuse of dominance proceedings concerning WhatsApp’s 2021 Privacy Policy before the CCI, the Delhi High Court and the Supreme Court, at the intersection of data privacy, user consent and competition law (nominated by Global Competition Review as Behavioural Matter of the Year, Asia Pacific, 2025).
  • Successfully defended Google in abuse of dominance proceedings regarding the integration of Google Meet with Gmail before the CCI, involving issues of platform conduct and data-driven market power.
  • Represented PVR Limited in an abuse of dominance case relating to its terms with producer companies before the CCI.
  • Represented Jaiprakash Associates in a bid-rigging cartel case before the CCI and the NCLAT.
  • Represented Biocon Limited in its abuse of dominance complaint against the Roche Group before the CCI and the Delhi High Court.
  • Represented JSW Paints in its abuse of dominance complaint against Asian Paints Limited before the CCI.
  • Represented the Confederation of Real Estate Developers Association of India (NCR Chapter) in its abuse of dominance complaint against the Department of Town and Country Planning, Government of Haryana, and Haryana Urban Development Corporation before the CCI.

Dawn Raids & Investigation Procedures

  • Guided a global agrochemical client through CCI investigation processes, including depositions, cross-examination protocols and strategic responses to statutory requisitions.
  • Supported a global electrical power products company during onsite dawn raids by the Director General, CCI, advising on legal protocols, internal communication and post-raid engagement.

Compliance & Advisory

  • Conducted a competition law training programme for a global automobile parts manufacturer.
  • Undertook a detailed competition law assessment for a leading Indian kitchen appliances company.
