25 years of long and wide-ranging experience in the entire gamut of power sector. Principal Legal Advisor of Maharashtra Electricity Regulatory Commission for 10 years till 2013 and Principal Legal Advisor of Central Electricity Regulatory Commission from 2009 to 2012. Since the enactment of The Electricity Act, 2003 have advised several Electricity Regulatory Commissions including CERC, MERC, RERC, GERC and many Private entities in Transmission, Generation and Distribution sector on all aspects of Regulation, Judicial and quasi-judicial decision making and defended them before Supreme Court, High Court and the Appellate Tribunal of Electricity.

In the Power Sector, have been at the forefront of several unique Regulatory initiatives and have achieved success in cutting edge litigation before the Supreme Court of India. Have advised the Forum of Regulators and the Ministry of Power in formulation and drafting of “Model State Electricity Distribution Responsibility Act, 2013” rechristened as “Ujwal Discom Assurance Yojna (UDAY)”. A part of advisory in niche areas viz., Electric Vehicles; Energy Storage; De-centralized generation; Concentrated Solar Power; shore power supply to ships.

Have extensively worked in areas of Water Sector for Maharashtra Water Resources Regulatory Authority, Airport privatization for Chhatrapati Shivaji’s International Airport at Mumbai and Indira Gandhi International Airport at New Delhi, Ports for Indian Ports Association, JNPT and Mumbai Port Trust and Integrated Urban Transport for Government of Kerala. Prior to setting up independent practice in 2005, working with leading Law firms – J Sagar Associates, Dua Associates Advocates and New Delhi Law Offices for 8 years.
