Rohitaashv Sinha Shares Insights on EPFO’s VISHWAS 2026 Scheme in Moneycontrol

Rohitaashv Sinha recently shared his insights with Moneycontrol on the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation’s (EPFO) newly launched VISHWAS 2026 scheme, a one-time dispute resolution initiative aimed at helping employers resolve long-pending EPF compliance disputes through a time-bound settlement mechanism.

Commenting on the scheme, Rohitaashv highlighted the significant opportunity it presents for employers to regularise legacy compliance issues while reducing financial exposure.

“For employers, the scheme presents a valuable opportunity to regularise legacy EPF compliance issues at a significantly lower financial cost. Organisations with pending litigation, recovery proceedings, or unresolved penalty notices should evaluate their eligibility and consider settling disputes within the six-month window.”

He further observed that the initiative is expected to strengthen the overall social security ecosystem by encouraging voluntary compliance and reducing the backlog of pending disputes.

“By incentivising employers to resolve outstanding matters, the initiative is likely to strengthen the social security framework, reduce uncertainty surrounding pending cases, and support timely enforcement of employees’ provident fund entitlements. Importantly, the scheme does not dilute employees’ substantive social security rights but seeks to expedite recovery and compliance through an amicable settlement mechanism.”

The EPFO’s VISHWAS 2026 scheme is designed to facilitate quicker resolution of legacy EPF disputes while improving compliance and reducing prolonged litigation. Employers with pending EPF matters are expected to assess their eligibility and take advantage of the six-month settlement window to resolve outstanding issues efficiently.
