Dhruv advises consumers to download shopping apps only from official app stores, verify app permissions, and avoid sharing sensitive information such as UPI PINs, card PINs or one-time passwords (OTPs) to receive refunds. He also recommends checking a retailer’s website for its business details, customer-care information, privacy policy and refund terms before making a purchase.

Highlighting the risks associated with fraudulent festive offers and gift vouchers, Dhruv urges consumers to purchase vouchers only through official websites, apps or authorised partners. He cautions against unsolicited offers that create a false sense of urgency and emphasises that consumers should never disclose card details, CVVs, OTPs or gift card codes to claim a deal.
