1. Switching of ESIC domains to https://esic.gov.in[1]

All existing https://esic.nic.in and https://esic.in have been moved to https://esic.gov.in. Further all existing email ids are also mapped with the new domain.

2. Creation of sub-domains for ROs/SROs/ESIC hospitals and medical institutions[2]

The Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) has created Sub-Domains (Independent Websites) of all the respective ROS/SROS, ESIC Hospitals and ESIC Medical Institutions. This move is taken in the interest that the Sub-Domains will help in creating a separate and independent identity for respective ROs/SROs, ESIC Hospitals and ESIC Medical Institutions and hence, will help in better optimization of ESIC Website on Search Engines.

3. New born baby registration[3]

The ESIC has developed a new feature for the registration of babies born in ESI Hospitals through the Integration of Dhanwantri Module and Insurance ERP-Portal. This feature is prepared to facilitate the inclusion of newborn babies of insured persons at ESI Hospitals in their respective family details in the insurance module after verification from their respective employers. This is intended to facilitate the insured persons to avail ESI Medical facility for their Newborns more conveniently.

4. Circular on filing contributions for employees on ESI leave

The employers are instructed[4]  by the Sub-regional Office, ESIC, Kollam to verify the attendance registers and carefully file contributions excluding the days on which the employees are on ESI leave. The Circular also mentions that upon the recurrence of such an event, the leave amount paid by the ESIC for leave days will be recovered from the employees, and further actions as per the provisions of the ESI Act will be taken against the employer for wrong filing of contribution.

5. ESIC allowed to perform Aadhaar authentication on a voluntary basis

In pursuance of the provisions of the Aadhaar (Targeted Delivery of Financial and Other Subsidies, Benefits and Services) Act, 2016 and the Aadhaar Authentication for Good Governance (Social Welfare, Innovation, Knowledge) Rules, 2020, the Ministry of Labour and Employment, having been authorised by the Central Government, notified that the ESIC is allowed to perform Aadhaar authentication, on a voluntary basis, for identification of beneficiaries, using Yes or No option or eKYC authentication facility. This facility is for providing social security benefits including medical and cash benefits under the provisions of the ESI Act.

The ESIC shall, for the said purpose, comply with all relevant provisions of the ESI Act, the rules and regulations made thereunder, and the directions issued by the Unique Identification Authority of India on this behalf.

The notification shall come into force on the date of its publication in the Official Gazette, i.e., January 13, 2023.
