Extension Of Permission To Open Establishments In Telangana Throughout The Year

Through the Labour Employment Training & Factories Department, the government on 15/05/2023 extended permission to all shops and establishments that come under the definition of shops in the Telangana Shops & Establishments Act, 1988, to keep their shops open all days of the year for an additional three years with effect from 16.06.2022, subject to certain conditions. These include, a maximum of 8 working hours per day and 48 per week for employees, a separate wage register to record employees who work beyond normal working hours, entitlement of a weekly holiday, mandatory indentation of overtime by employees, payment of their wages to their savings account, working hours of establishments between 9 AM and 11 PM, and the arrangement of transport facilities to women employees required to work beyond 8:30 PM, a notice conveying the same is to be exhibited at the entrance of the shop. Also, appointment letters, visit books, and other compliances with welfare provisions are to be maintained, since the exemption will be subject to verification by the jurisdiction Inspector on inspections and the employer must cooperate with and accommodate the inspector with respect to the inspection.
